Work

My work honours three main values: nature, history and personal expression.

The ecoprints I make are imprints of plants that release their natural pigments and shapes into paper or fabric when bundled and boiled in water. I create ink from plants and trees as a natural art supply using methods gleaned from ancient times. Collected vintage papers and ephemera appear often in my collages and abstract art. Letterpress printing on antique presses with decades-old wood and lead type is employed to communicate modern ideas. All my interests culminate in the centuries-old craft of binding books by hand, using awl, bone folder, needle and linen thread to sew pages and covers together. My work often includes blank space to be personalized with art and words in sketchbooks, journals, photo albums and cards, thus documenting life on paper.

As artist and designer, I curate all colours, textures and materials. Every handmade book is unique, bearing the experience of my hands, head and heart.
